Even the smallest amount of water in a fuel system can lead to corrosion. More and more marketers are reporting that accelerated corrosion inside tanks and on fuel system equipment has become increasingly responsible for:
- Longer and more frequent maintenance calls
- Unserviceable or damaged equipment
- Pervasive dispenser filter changes
- Overall maintenance costs increases
What’s causing this corrosion? The introduction of cleaner-burning Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) and the increased use of biodiesel in diesel fuels has created an atmosphere for greater microbial activity in tanks. When water enters that atmosphere through a fuel drop, from ground/surface intrusion, or via increased moisture levels in containment sumps, you have an environment that is ripe for accelerated corrosion. Numerous studies have indicated that even a small amount of water at the bottom of a tank can ultimately lead to corrosion and debris throughout the fuel system.
WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT CORROSION?
Recently, marketers have begun taking a proactive approach to mitigating corrosion by eliminating its causes, like water and moisture, from their fuel systems with the Corrosion Control™ System. The fully integrated system provides in-tank and in-sump corrosion prevention by proactively removing water from tanks with the Corrosion Control™ Water Separator. The Corrosion Control™ System is driven by the EVO™ 600/6000 Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) which automates the system, monitors for the presence of corrosive environments, and helps to alleviate maintenance costs.
